Creation of a regional urban competitiveness pole
Colombia
Within the framework of the “Integral Regional Project for the development of Urabá”, the Governor of Antioquia has presented the strategic axes to position the region of Urabá among the best of the Caribbean, and a first-class international industrial port region.
Exploiting the synergies between urban uses, port activities, and the productive sectors
The geostrategic location at the intersection of major sea and land routes between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean, maximizes the potential for the creation of a competitive regional urban centre, based on port logistics activities, and the productive sectors of agribusiness, forestry, automotive industry, glass and paper.
IDOM has collaborated with the Institute for Development of Antioquia in defining the new economic centre, focusing on exploiting the synergies between urban uses, port activities, and the productive sectors.
A space of opportunity with a positive impact on territorial dynamics in the area of influence has been proposed for a region which is well connected, qualified, socially responsible and environmentally sustainable.
