IDOM in the UN. Doing business by doing good
PARTICIPATING IN THE UNITED NATIONS WEEK
In late November 2016, ICEX (the Spanish Institute for foreign trade) celebrated the United Nations Week at its Madrid HQ. The slogan for the event was Doing Business by Doing Good.
Over four days, different business opportunities offered by different UN agencies were discussed. These were agencies from diverse places such as Copenhagen, Rome, Geneva, Budapest, Vienna and New York.
Technical managers and procurement managers from over 80 Spanish firms attended the event. These are firms that could potentially supply the services and products required by the UN agencies.
Contracting of the United Nations amounted to $17,600M in 2015 alone. Spain supplied the UN with services and products to the tune of $64M in the same year. Spain is one of the top ten donating countries, a return on investment of 0.36% in terms of contracts awarded.
Since 2010, IDOM has been one of the few firms supplying the UN. Given our experience collaborating with the UN, ICEX called on us to lead the conferences related to Geneva and Budapest.
Considering all the above, the Spanish Government is designing a 5 year plan to support Spanish firms in relation to UN contracts, under the leadership of ICEX and the Ministries of Economy and Foreign Affairs.
