Award for the Vallès Metro
BEST INFRASTRUCTURE 2016, AWARDED BY THE CONSELL ASSESSOR D'INFRAESTRUCTURES DE CATALUNYA
On June 13 2017, the Consell Assessor d’Infraestructures de Catalunya organized a “Nit de les Infraestructures” (Infrastructure Night). At the event held at the headquarters of Foment del Treball, the extension project of the Vallès Metro in Sabadell was named the Best Infrastructure 2016.
The work, undertaken by FGC (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya), stood out among the finalists as an example of development based on demand and for its positive cost-benefit relationship.
This project includes a new 1.5 km section in tunnel and two new stations, Can Feu-Gràcia and Plaça Major, replacing the old stations of Sabadell Estació and Sabadell Rambla. The infrastructure, which came into operation in September 2016, was the winner of the four sub-categories of the overall award: Developer, Designer, Construction and Construction Management.
As one of the firms involved in the development of the project, IDOM was awarded the prize for the sub-categories of Designer and Construction Management. On behalf of all those involved, José J. Rivera Hernández, Executive Director of IDOM collected the award.
