Strengthening the relationship between ports in Latin America

13 COUNTRIES MEET IN COLOMBIA TO DISCUSS LOGISTICAL INTEGRATION

The “Second Latin American and Caribbean Meeting of Port Logistic Communities” was held recently in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, with the purpose of consolidating the structure of the new Network of Digital and Collaborative Ports (Red de Puertos Digitales y Colaborativos – RED).

IDOM was present and has the opportunity to present our experience in the Definition and Design of Port Management Systems. These are Systems that, integrated with one-stop shops (contact point) and Port Community Systems, are the base of the Digital Ports, facilitating collaboration between all the Port Logistic Community.

In the presence of several international specialists, Agustín Martínez Delgado, from the Ports and Logistics Department of IDOM, shared his vision of the SmartPort Logistics Systems concept.

Digital and Collaborative Ports Network (RED)

RED forms part of the SELA-CAF (Program Network of Digital and Collaborative Ports of Latin America and the Caribbean - Latin American Development Bank), and is structured around the Port Logistics Chain, 23 port systems in 13 different countries: Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica Rica, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile.

Its mission is to respond to the new challenges of port governance, technology adoption, and trade facilitation, encouraging the regional port ecosystem to achieve higher levels of technological interoperability, logistics integration, market adaptation and sustainability with its social and environmental environment.
