Social housing in the Basque Country (1981-2018)
IDOM is showcasing a unique project at the exhibition
From May 3 until June 30, Bilbao will host an exhibition on the public housing policy developed in the Basque Country over the past 37 years.
Organized by the Department of the Environment, Territorial Planning and Housing of the Basque Country, the exhibition entitled Housing the Basque Country (Vivienda Pública en Euskadi/Euskadiko Etxebizitza Publikoa) 1981-2018, will be held in the Bizkaia Aretoa building (Abandoibarra, 3).
The exhibition will occupy three exhibition areas of the building, each focusing on a different approach to public housing.
Under the title Housing & the City, the Axular hall will exhibit the photographic work of Luis Asín “a social portrait of the present reality in the groups of social housing”.
The theme in the Etxepare hall is Building the House, a recreation of a domestic space.
Finally, under the title 30 Projects, the Chillida hall host a selection of the most representative projects from the period. Among them, is the 88 Zabalgana social housing units designed by IDOM. The visitor is presented with large-format photographs of the project, as well as the original plans and architectural models.
