Montevideo – Paso de los Toros Central Railway Line

With an investment of one billion euros, this will be the largest infrastructure project in the history of the country. 270 km of old track sections will be upgraded (29 km of double track and 17 new crossover stations). This free gauge, 22.5-ton axle load railway, is being developed in a BIM environment. Its future electrification will also be possible.
IDOM as the design coordinator of the construction project, is carrying out the detailed engineering work included in the scope of work, including the preliminary design and the design of the executive project. The project is being developed in a BIM environment.
The Grupo Vía Central consortium, composed of Sacyr (40%), Saceem (27%), NGE (27%) and Berkes (6%), is responsible for the design, construction, financing, upgrade and maintenance of the Montevideo – Paso de los Toros Central Railway Line.
