Next exit: Barranquilla
The District Mayor’s Office of Barranquilla, together with Puerta de Oro “Empresa de Desarrollo Caribe”, the Municipality of Málaga, the Municipality of the National District of Santo Domingo and AECID, have formed a Triangular Cooperation Alliance that promotes an initiative for the transfer of experiences and best practices among the members of the Alliance, in order to advise and provide technical resources to the City of Barranquilla to strengthen its program for the revitalization of the Historic Center. This initiative seeks to generate solutions that will enable the adoption of strategic plans for the rehabilitation and revitalization of historic centers to ensure sustainable development with urban equity.
As part of this collaborative project, IDOM has been in charge of the preparation of the Integrated Plan for the Socio-Economic Reactivation of the Historic Center of Barranquilla, whose objective is to position the Center of Barranquilla as a strategic, inclusive and sustainable territory, characterized by its cultural, patrimonial and economic value, a city that shines day and night, with a vision for the year 2042.
The Integrated Plan is intended to serve as a guide that will direct the socioeconomic reactivation of the Historic Center, providing instructions in physical-spatial, social, cultural, economic, and environmental aspects, as well as in the different management and financing mechanisms. Likewise, it is expected that the Plan will be integrated with the different urban planning instruments that exist in the District of Barranquilla, in order to guarantee its durability and the creation of a common vision for the development of the territory in the short, medium and long term.
