Business Plan and Concession Model for the Intermodal Rail Terminal at the Port of Valparaíso
Chile
Puerto Valparaíso is one of the main ports of entry and exit for goods from all over Chile, which are usually transferred by container via road. As part of the plan to boost rail freight, the Port Company is planning to initiate studies to design the best way to develop rail transport to its hinterland.
It is entrusting IDOM to present a value proposition for an intermodal rail terminal at the port. The business plan includes the strategy, the marketing plan, a legal and regulatory study, the operations plan, an organizational proposal for the new company, the strategy for land purchase alternatives and the best business model and its risks. This is complemented by a concession model that establishes the minimum conditions for participation in the project, defines the rates and tariffs, and approaches potential investors to evaluate market interest and adapt the tender to their needs.
