Gauss Fusion appoints top leadership team to drive renewable fusion energy in Europe
With the appointed of Milena Roveda as CEO, the European company Gauss Fusion is bringing together top scientific and large-scale project management talent from CERN, ITER and the Department of Education to make renewable fusion energy technologically and commercially viable. This is a further step in its vision to introduce fusion power green hydrogen into the electricity grid, with the aim of building the first fusion power plant in Europe.

Gauss Fusion is a green technology company founded in 2022 by several companies from Germany, France, Italy, and Spain with extensive experience in fusion technology. IDOM is one of them. Recently, its Supervisory Board has appointed a top management team, committed to making renewable fusion energy commercially viable, efficient, and inexhaustible. In doing so, it aims to revolutionize the renewables landscape by adding clean fusion power to the future mix.
A team comprising Milena Roveda (CEO), Frédérick Bordry (CTO) and Norbert Holtkamp (Chief Scientist) is at the helm of Gauss Fusion, together with Frank Laukien, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and Hartmut Zohm, Chairman of the Strategic and Scientific Advisory Board.
Milena Roveda has more than 30 years of experience in renowned global companies such as Bayer and ThyssenKrupp. She has led transformation initiatives, spearheaded market launches and financial operations in Europe and North America. Her industry background extends to IT and software solutions, with a presence in sectors such as healthcare, chemicals and automotive. She has also worked for private equity firms such as Carlyle, EQT and Investcorp and has experience in corporate strategy development and implementation, investment plan development and business process optimization.
Frédérick Bordry boasts an illustrious career that began at CERN in 1986. He oversaw the operation of the CERN accelerator complex, with a focus on the renowned Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Frédérick has supervised cutting-edge projects, managed large teams and covered a range of advanced and emerging technologies. Since 2021, he has been an honorary member and advisor to the CERN Director General, as well as a strategic and scientific advisor to various institutions, industries, and start-ups.
Norbert Holtkamp has played a pivotal role in the construction of several scientific facilities and infrastructures. His research covers a broad spectrum, from synchrotron and neutron radiation sources, high-energy colliders, other accelerator-based high-power beam energy facilities, to fusion. He was Deputy Director General and supervised the construction of ITER, the world’s largest fusion research facility located in Cadarache (France) between 2006 and 2010.
“Milena Roveda is a senior manager who believes passionately in the future of fusion energy,” says Frank Laukien, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. “Together with Frédérick and Norbert, she will drive the development, industrialization and commercialization of clean, renewable fusion energy to build Europe’s first fusion power plant.”
