IDOM – featured speaker at the 66th International Congress on Water, Sanitation, Environment and Renewable Energies ACODAL2023

From June 7 to 9, our colleagues from Oil & Gas and Environment participated in the 66th International Congress on Water, Sanitation, Environment and Renewable Energies ACODAL2023. The event was held in Bogota (Colombia). During two presentations and a master class, they addressed important issues related to current challenges in the field of water, environment, and renewable energy. They also explained the projects of IDOM that have contributed to the sustainable development of the country, Latin America, and the Caribbean region.

Representing the Oil & Gas sector were Fernando Salgado, María Victoria Gualteros Ramirez and Paola Andrea Suárez Chogó, as well as José Miguel Moreno, an expert in the sector and responsible for IDOM’s LNG and Renewable Gases Business Line, who participated as a speaker in the session “From Green Hydrogen to Green Ammonia”. In his presentation, José Miguel highlighted the benefits and challenges of developing the hydrogen economy and international transportation technologies to promote the clean economy.

Asier Rodríguez Ochoa, Laura Pinzón and Jose Alberto Gaona, from the Environment Department, teamed up to give a masterclass on the methodology for defining and implementing ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction (Eco-DRR). Last year, the IDOM Environment team also had the opportunity, within the framework of a project funded by FIIAPP, to train officials from different public entities in Colombia from the Pacific and Caribbean nodes, explaining the institutional and legal framework, the relationship between Eco-DRR and climate change, the implementation of Eco-DRR project methodologies and their monitoring and evaluation. A network for structuring projects at the national level was also established.

In addition, Jose Gaona participated in another panel where he presented the work done for the Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá (EAAB), which aims to ensure the quality and supply of water in the Colombian capital through the development of a portfolio of green infrastructure projects and short- and medium-term nature-based solutions (NbS).
