Urban Adaptation to Climate Change Program in Central America
America | El Salvador
Within the framework of official financial cooperation with partner countries, the German government, through KfW, is supporting the implementation of the program “Urban Adaptation to Climate Change in Central America – El Salvador Component”.
The aim of the program is to reduce the risk of flooding, landslides and strong winds for the population in vulnerable areas of the San Salvador metropolitan area (AMSS). The direct target group of the program is the population of the AUPs (Urban Precarious Settlements) in the areas most affected by extreme weather phenomena.
The program includes green and grey infrastructure measures to reduce flood, landslide, and wind risks, as well as institutional and community strengthening. IDOM, as support and monitoring consultant, is involved in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the program together with the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Housing.
