Bilbao international action strategy

The main objective of this project is the provision of consultancy and technical assistance services to the Bilbao City Council for the development of the Bilbao 2030 International Action Strategy, as well as the support of promotional actions for the internationalization of the city. All this contributes to the international positioning of Bilbao as an economically innovative, socially advanced and attractive place to visit, invest, work and live, both from the point of view of generating international opportunities for the development of municipal activities, as well as the economic improvement of the city and the territory by supporting its companies in the development of their activities, in their creation, attraction and establishment.
The main activities carried out have been:
- Development of a strategy for positioning the city in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
- Accompanying participation at the highest level in international forums and networks relevant to the international positioning of the city.
- Support in obtaining international recognition and improving the positioning of the Bilbao brand.
- Support in attracting and participating in events for the positioning of the Bilbao brand.
- Development of a strategy to support the international positioning of Bilbao companies and the necessary instruments for its implementation.
- Support in the development of a city diplomacy oriented fundamentally towards the generation of opportunities for local economic sectors.
- Development of a plan that favours a sustainable management oriented towards the generation of opportunities for local economic sectors of the inverse study missions that visit Bilbao.
- Support for participation in international networks and institutions and collaboration with relevant international agents to incorporate good practices.
- Support in the organisation of international technical visits to access knowledge and incorporate good practices.
- At a general level, support in internationalisation proposals for Bilbao derived from the International Action Strategy 2030, and possible actions derived from the Annual Operational Plan.
