We are designing the Proton Therapy Unit of La Paz Hospital in Madrid
The Hospital Universitario La Paz in Madrid will soon have an innovative proton therapy unit. We are leading the project providing architectural and engineering services, detailed design and construction management.
As part of this project, we will be responsible for safety analysis studies and the necessary documentation in support of the CSN safety approval process for the new IBA Proteus One unit.
This unit is part of the donation made by the Amancio Ortega Foundation to help bring Proton Therapy to Spain. This endeavor is part of Sustainable Development Goal 3: Health and Wellness, and its inclusion will have a direct impact on the quality of life of users of the public health system.
IDOM has experience in the design and construction of 4 other proton therapy centers: Donostia University Hospital, Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital Proton Therapy Center in Santander, Hadron Therapy and Research Center at the International University of Kutaisi in Georgia, and Quirón Salud Proton Therapy Center in Pozuelo, Madrid, which was the first proton therapy oncology treatment center built in Spain.
The multidisciplinary nature of our team allows the integration of all the technical disciplines involved, which is particularly suitable for this type of projects, which are of great technical complexity and very high demands in terms of rigor and precision.
We are proud to be able to contribute with our work to the improvement of the quality of life of both pediatric and adult patients who are facing the challenge of cancer.
