Dammam Airport is the third busiest airport in Saudi Arabia in terms of passenger traffic and the main gateway to the oil and gas rich Eastern Province. In a context of continuous growth, GACA was asked to prepare a master plan for the development of an Airport City around Dammam Airport to diversify business opportunities and position the airport as one of the most attractive in the region.
The proposed 30 year plan includes:
- 5,724 hectares of gross area
- 14 million m2 of built-up area
- 12,500 million USD investment (urbanization and construction)
- 45 million passengers/year over 30 years (currently 12 million passengers/year).
The client plans to manage several master developers and act as a landlord, receiving a fee for the use of the land (indirect management).
