Development poles for the Mayan train

As part of the Maya Train project in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, the United Nations (UN) has selected IDOM to lead the development and strengthening of legal and regulatory instruments that will provide certainty for the future development of the territories of the municipalities involved. These municipalities will host the new railway infrastructure and its stations, acting as catalysts for economic activities and improvements in the quality of life of their inhabitants.

The municipalities involved in the formulation of urban development instruments related to the Tren Maya include Merida, Tulum, Bacalar, Calakmul, Escarcega and Valladolid, all located on the Yucatan Peninsula.

The work carried out includes a series of detailed studies that address the following aspects:

  • Legal and regulatory foundations.
  • Exhaustive diagnostic analysis.
  • Prospective evaluation to anticipate future scenarios.
  • Definition of strategies and lines of action, including primary and secondary zoning.
  • Implementation and planning of concrete actions.
  • Continuous evaluation and monitoring of progress.
  • Identification of a portfolio of priority projects.
  • Comprehensive support in public consultation processes.

This comprehensive and collaborative approach aims to ensure sustainable and equitable urban development in the regions impacted by the Tren Maya project, promoting economic growth and the well-being of local communities in harmony with the natural environment.
