What will the new Spanish stadiums be like?
La Romareda and the Coliseum in detail at the ESSMA Summit
On 12 and 13 November, the European Stadium and Safety Management Association (ESSMA), a non-profit organisation made up of the European professional football leagues, clubs and companies linked to the sport, organised its 11th Summit at El Riad Air Metropolitano.
Atlético de Madrid’s stadium welcomed some of the most prominent professionals in the field of football, who gathered to share experiences and discuss the future of the sport.
During the two days, the following events were held:
1.- Keynote lectures on the latest trends and innovations in stadium management and sports venue operations.
2.- Club-focused seminars on topics such as safety and security, marketing and commerce, with the participation of, among others, The Fan Experience Company, Sporting CP, CD Leganés, Real Zaragoza, Valencia CF, Cleveland Cleveland CF, CD Leganés, Real Zaragoza, Valencia CF and Sporting CP: The Fan Experience Company, Sporting CP, CD Leganés, Real Zaragoza, Valencia CF, Cleveland Browns or RSC.
3.- A key event focused on sustainability where regulations and requirements were analyzed, recommendations were made, practical applications were proposed and a workshop on sustainable strategy was organized.
4.- Master Mind Sessions in which groups of people from specific areas of stadium management met to discuss the current challenges facing stadiums and exchange experiences.
5.- Presentations and round tables on different aspects of the stadium sector. Among them, there was a panel entitled: Exclusive perspectives of the latest stadium development projects in Spain in which we participated. Our colleague Javier Dávila presented the La Romareda project, an example of new construction with FIFA 2030 World Cup standards. For his part, Javier Mora, director of the Coliseum project, analyzed the ins and outs of the comprehensive remodeling of a medium-capacity stadium. Both were presented as examples to bring the members of the Association closer to the current situation of stadiums in Spain.
