Digital Transformation with SAP S/4HANA – IDOM & the Onnera Group:
t IDOM, we are delighted to share the success of our collaboration with Onnera, a giant in the hospitality, laundry and commercial refrigeration sectors. Recognized for its leadership in Spain and its prominent position worldwide, Onnera has taken a bold step towards innovation and sustainability.
In December 2022, Onnera received approval to build a washing machine factory in Oñati, designed to be the most efficient and sustainable in Europe. Scheduled to begin production in January 2025, this plant will operate according to lean management, kanban, and just-in-time principles, optimizing each process and reducing waste.
The challenge of SAP S/4HANA migration
The company needed to upgrade its ERP system from SAP ECC 6.0 to SAP S/4HANA in just one year to support this ambitious project. We opted for a brownfield migration, which allowed an upgrade without a complete re-engineering, and performed the conversion process in all companies simultaneously within a 48-hour window.
The migration was a resounding success. Not only did we meet the deadline, but we also significantly improved system performance. Processes that used to take minutes are now completed in seconds, pleasantly surprising users and improving customer service.
This project was a milestone in Onnera’s journey towards efficiency and sustainability. Thanks to the IDOM team, we continue to work together to implement a new production model based on lean management.
