Basque Industrial Policy Platform

Spain

SPRI, the Economic Development Agency of the Basque Country, is dedicated to promoting the competitiveness and sustainability of Basque companies through various initiatives in the fields of science, technology and innovation. IDOM has supported SPRI in the design, development and implementation of the Historical Atlas of Basque Industrial Policy, developing all the content included in the platform in multilingual format (Basque, Spanish and English), as well as in the functional definition, design, development and implementation of the technological platform that integrates the content.

Once the platform was operational, IDOM continued to support the SPRI in the updating, adaptation and development of the Historical Atlas of Basque Industrial Policy, through the design, production, development and programming of both the existing content and visual elements and the new content and visual elements related to industrial policy, adapting and developing the functionalities and structure of the platform.

The activities developed in the project can be divided into two blocks, one for the design and implementation of the platform, and the other focused on its updating.

Regarding the design and implementation of the platform, the services have included the following actions:

  • Analysis of actions, programs and initiatives in industrial policy and competitiveness in the Basque Country to be included in the platform.
  • Identification of international best practices in the field of industrial promotion in advanced regions.
  • Development of content sheets in Basque, English and Spanish for each of the selected actions.
  • Functional definition, design, development and implementation of a technological platform in which the contents will be integrated.
  • Design and creation of other contents to be integrated in the platform, such as the areas of action, the chronograms, the timeline, the platform user’s guide, the existing force messages in each of the areas of action, and the socioeconomic indicators with their corresponding graphs.

Once the platform is in operation, it requires periodic updating and adaptation so that the tool reflects the reality of the evolution of Basque industrial policy. Given this context, IDOM has carried out the following activities:

  • Analysis and updating of the existing contents of the platform, based on the progress and evolution of the actions they describe.
  • Development of new content on plans, programs, initiatives and actions that are being implemented and that are relevant to integrate into the platform.
  • Adaptation of the platform’s structure, the areas of action that comprise it and all auxiliary elements, such as socioeconomic indicators, the timeline, chronograms and the user’s guide.

Thanks to its knowledge of the situation in the Basque Country and its public policies, IDOM has been able to respond to the need to create an avant-garde platform that reflects the evolution and reality of Basque industrial policy. IDOM is a member of associations and networks in the Basque Country, such as the Basque Committee of CTI, Innobasque, Euskalit, GAIA, ACICAE, ACLIMA, UNIPORT, MAFEX, SIDEREX, BuildiNNN, etc., which provides a deep knowledge in real time of the Basque industrial reality.

Likewise, the IDOM team integrates expertise and knowledge on the design and implementation of policies related to the industrial field, as well as a group of experts from different sectors of the industry. All this has allowed an understanding of the needs of the client and the reality and evolution of the Basque industry.

In addition, IDOM has the experience and knowledge to generate an ad-hoc technological tool that integrates all the Basque industrial policy actions of the last 40 years. That is why IDOM has managed to generate a unique tool that is kept up to date to reflect the industrial reality of the Basque Country.
