Freight corridor prioritization demand and market study

The objective of the project is to advise the FDN in carrying out a demand and market assessment study to prioritize rail freight corridors in Colombia, within the framework of the “Program to Support the Implementation of the New National Logistics Policy”.

The main activities developed by IDOM were:

Work plan and schedule of activities: identification of strategic stakeholders, collection of information and tools, definition of the methodology, work plan and schedule of activities.
Diagnosis and strategic characterization of the current supply: characterization of the rail network and rolling stock, workshops and focus groups with strategic stakeholders and construction of project banks.
Market and demand analysis of rail corridors: market study and analysis, data collection and transportation model, supply and demand projection, analysis of future scenarios, sensitivity and best alternative.
Project analysis and prioritization: quantification of CAPEX and OPEX of the corridors, development and application of cost-benefit methodology, performing financial and economic analysis.
Strategic conceptual proposal of complementary components: complementary strategic proposal per corridor and document compiled from the consultancy.
