A highly specialized hospital facility
New headquarters of the University Hospital of Navarra, in Madrid
The project of the Madrid headquarters of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra is now a reality. The new headquarters, which is located on the urban campus of the University of Navarra in Madrid, was inaugurated on January 31, in the presence of numerous authorities.
IDOM has been responsible for the architecture and structures design of this Center, which will offer 46 medical specialties and will have an Oncology Institute, along with 5 other multidisciplinary areas. The 26,500 m2 dedicated to hospital use will have 60 beds (with the possibility of extending to 180 beds), 7 operating theaters, and 4 procedure rooms.
The architecture of the new Clinic had to responds to the specific character of a university hospital; that is to say, a research center where professionals work to resolve, quickly and efficiently, the problems of the patients, following a multidisciplinary work model.
To achieve this objective, our firm focused on articulating a space which is compact in nature, where the walking routes will be minimized, while optimizing the form factor, that is, the physical and functional integration of the different areas.
