IDOM participated in the 18th Young Professionals Conference of the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts (ATPYC)
On 9 and 10 June, IDOM participated in the 18th Young Professionals Conference of the Technical Association of Ports and Coasts (ATPYC) held in Malaga. The young engineers had the opportunity to present and explain the work they are carrying out in the Port Engineering sector. During the conference, the main topics discussed were the impact of climate change on maritime works, the need to conserve the environment (in particular marine fauna and flora), and the sustainability of our Projects.
Our colleagues Fernando Sacristán and Carlos Torralba, members of the port infrastructures team, presented the paper entitled “Environmental Aspects of the Construction Project for the Extension of the Western Esplanade of the Port of Alcudia”. The paper presented and analysed the problems of the Project, which includes dredging in a protected area (SCI and SPA), as well as the dumping of surplus material at a point in the open sea. During the presentation, they highlighted the study of alternatives carried out for the relocation of the dredged material so as not to affect sensitive environments and habitats.
We hope to continue participating on future occasions, promoting the work of our young engineers and resolving the concerns of our Clients.
