IDOM participated in the XI National Geotechnical Engineering Symposium in Mieres
On May 26, IDOM participated in the XI National Geotechnical Engineering Symposium in Mieres, the province of Asturias, organized by the Spanish Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (SEMSIG) with the theme: “Geotechnics in support of safety and sustainability”.
Our colleagues Francisco Peral Álvaro, Engineer of the Department of Geotechnics and Underground Works and Manuel Cueto Caso, Senior Geologist have presented the paper “Geotechnical evaluation of the Deve Bair cross-border railway tunnel (Macedonia – Bulgaria)” in Topic 5 “Geotechnics in tunnels”.
The Symposium has focused on two aspects that are of primary interest today and in which Geotechnics plays a decisive role: the safety of the works, an issue for which the land, knowledge of, its eventual improvement or reinforcement, and its correct use are essential. On the other hand, public works and construction are linked to decision-making on the protection of the environment and natural resources related to Geotechnical Engineering.
