IDOM presents key results to boost cabotage and Short Sea Shipping in the Gulf of Mexico

During the Investment Attraction Forum organized by the Integral Port Administration of Campeche (APICAM), IDOM unveiled the results of the Market Study aimed at promoting cabotage and Short Sea Shipping (TMCD) in the Gulf of Mexico region. Víctor Felipe Domínguez Maldonado, an expert from IDOM, outlined the opportunities and strategies to strengthen regional maritime trade.

This study was conducted in collaboration with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine (CGPMM). The presentation covered various stages of the project, including a comprehensive diagnosis of maritime transport, interviews with key stakeholders, cargo and port capacity analysis, demand projections, area of influence analysis, selection of viable cabotage and TMCD routes, definition of requirements, and a detailed implementation plan.

At the end of the presentation, a Q&A session was held where panelists shared their views on the future prospects of the port of Seybaplaya and the necessary actions to enhance its role in regional development.
