IDOM Tramway Systems presented in Stockholm
JORGE BERNABÉU SHARES THE EXPERIENCE OF IDOM
IDOM participated in a Spårvagns Städerna (Tram Cities Sweden) event held in Stockholm on November 17. Tram Cities Sweden is an organization that disseminates information and promotes collaboration on tramway projects. The purpose of this event was to study the strategic role of tramways in the construction of cities. Regional public transport authorities and municipal representatives from all over Scandinavia attended the event.
IDOM was represented at the event by Jorge Bernabéu and Borja Cordoba. Starting with a presentation of the design project developed by IDOM for the Lund Tramway system (Sweden), Jorge then went on to explain the many other varied tram systems the firm has developed around the world. Focusing on the challenges and opportunities of the urban integration of tramway systems, he shared the lessons learned on other projects in diverse cities such as Constantine (Algeria), Guatemala, Medellín (Colombia), Cuenca (Ecuador), Odense (Denmark), or Dublin (Ireland).
The presentation was well received and gave rise to plenty of discussion.
