Participating in a technical conference on Skyscrapers
International Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Exhibition
Between November 16 and 19, C&R took place at IFEMA (Feria de Madrid), the major international event on Air Conditioning, Heating, Plumbing, Ventilation, Industrial Cold and Commercial sectors of reference in Spain.
The event, in which a total of 614 companies participated, attracted about 55,000 visitors from 88 countries.
For three days, various technical workshops and round tables were held, and practical cases were presented. Ramón Gutiérrez Fernández-Cuervo participated on behalf of IDOM, presenting our work on the Iberdrola Tower – designed by the architect César Pelli – within the Technical Conference on large-scale Architecture and Engineering Projects. Tall Buildings.
Torre Iberdrola
The Iberdrola Tower is 165 meters high and has 40 floors above ground level and 5 below ground parking floors.
The total constructed area is 94,000 m2, varying by floor, from 1,850 m2 on the lower floors to 1,250 m2 on the highest floors. Of the total, 62,000 m2 are above ground and 32,000 m2 are below ground.
Its design stands out for its active façade with solar protection that operates automatically depending on the sun, the highly energy-efficient air conditioning system with maximum modularity, and its LEED Platinum certification.
IDOM developed the structure and installation projects based on the design of the architect César Pelli, as well as the construction management.
