Progress on clean energy cargo transportation

On August 20, the Bicentennial Building was the setting for a day of presentations dedicated to using clean energy in freight logistics. This event was organized by the Logistics Development Program of the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Energy and CORFO. The IDOM was an important participant.

Cristián Valdés, Project Manager, and Pablo Hidalgo, Digital Transformation Specialist, both from the Consulting Strategy and Operations Office of IDOM Chile, shared the valuable international experience they have gained at the Port of Barcelona. In particular, they focused on the logistics of electric vehicles in port terminals. They also highlighted the importance of the Sustainability Plan as an essential tool for the sustainable planning of the port and its concessionaires.

The event brought together more than 150 participants, including government authorities and experts in technological innovation. All are committed to the transition to cleaner and more efficient transportation. The event was opened by the Undersecretary of Transportation, Mr. Jorge Daza, who highlighted the Chilean government’s commitment to implementing solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions in freight transportation.

The day concluded with a call to action to continue promoting innovation and sustainability in freight transport in Chile. Participants emphasized the need to continue working together to meet the challenges of transitioning to a cleaner and more efficient transportation system.
