The new vertical district in Delhi

IMAGINE YOUR IDEAL CITY!

Imagine that you live in a city of 25 million inhabitants, but in your area – residential and commercial – there are practically no cars and you can go to the office by bicycle or on foot, and the nearest metro station is just minutes away, connecting you with the rest of the metropolis.
Best practices in Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) and the most advanced concepts of sustainable and intelligent cities (Smart City) are the ideal of life on which the new East Delhi Hub district has been designed.

This ideal has every possibility of becoming reality as it is being promoted by two very powerful entities in India: the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC) and the Delhi Urban Development Authority (DDA).

The project has been developed on 30 hectares of land in Karkardooma (New Delhi) and a key design strategy has been the search for a vertical solution that includes iconic towers that, as mentioned, incorporate TOD best practices.

The international competition for this ambitious project was convened in July 2015 and in December the NBCC awarded the winning proposal entitled “Organic Density”, from the consortium formed by CP Kukreja Architects (Delhi) and IDOM.

Currently, our firm is working on the conceptual design of the proposal and expects the basic design and bidding documents to be finalized by mid-2017, prior to the implementation phase with is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.
