The president and CEO of the Royal Academy of Engineering visit IDOM
On April 30, we welcomed the President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Jaime Domínguez Abascal, accompanied by the CEO, Javier Pérez de Vargas, at our offices located in Madrid. Ramón López Laborda, María Álvarez Mingorance, Yolanda Cerezo and Almudena Bautista attended the meeting on behalf of IDOM.
IDOM has a longstanding relationship with the Royal Academy of Engineering and is on the Board of Trustees of the Pro Rebus Academia Foundation. Since 2020, IDOM has collaborated with the RAI’s “Women and Engineering” project, an inclusive project committed to diversity as a benchmark for promoting STEM careers among women. Almudena Bautista is a member of the project’s Strategic Council.
Since the signing of the collaboration agreement in March 2021, 23 people from IDOM have participated in the “Mentoring of Excellence” program, accompanying as many students in their final year of STEM university degrees in the process of integration into the labor market; 7 senior and junior engineers and engineers have shared their experiences with more than 600 students in sessions in 10 secondary schools through the “Women and Engineering goes to your center” program; and IDOM led the organization and presentation of the “Engineering, Disability and Inclusion” conference, held in January 2022, together with RAI and the ONCE Foundation.
IDOM has proposed to RAI the realization of workshops “Create your sustainable city” in primary schools and a new day “Engineering and Health” as new initiatives in the framework of the “Women and Engineering” project.
In line with RAI’s “Engineering and Sustainable Development” program, we shared with them our sustainability strategy, our adherence to the Sustainable Development Goals and our incorporation of the ten principles of the Global Compact. We also presented the four aspects of our activity in which our strategy is integrated: our projects, how we work, where we work, and how IDOM employees behave.
IDOM’s methodology for defining sustainability goals and monitoring their indicators has been highly appreciated by RAI.
Our commitment to innovation, inclusion and sustainability in engineering is strengthened by this meeting. We look forward to continuing to work with the Royal Academy of Engineering on projects that promote science and technology for social good.
