The XIII Jornadas Españolas de Presas underscore innovation and adaptation to climate change

The XIII Jornadas Españolas de Presas, organized by the Spanish National Committee on Large Dams (SPANCOLD), took place from June 17 to 20 at the World Trade Center in Barcelona. IDOM participated in the conference, which addressed important issues such as the safety of dams and reservoirs, as well as the role of these infrastructures in the face of climate change and energy transition.

These conferences, which have been held since 1985 in various locations in Spain, were hosted by the Ebro Hydrographic Confederation and the Catalan Water Agency (ACA), with the collaboration of CIMNE. This forum serves as a meeting point for the Administration, Public Bodies, Companies, Professionals, Universities and Research Centers, where topics of interest on water regulation and use are presented, discussed, and analyzed.

During the event, the application of the Technical Safety Standards for Dams and Reservoirs, innovation in the design and operation of dams, and the necessary adaptation to climate change were highlighted. The importance of the development of hydraulic energy storage to ensure the safe integration of renewable energies, which is key for a correct energy transition, was also underlined.
