UN-Habitat and the International Union of Architects (UIA) recognize our work
The UIA Commission on Sustainable Development (UN 17 SDGs Working Group) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, convened the 2023 edition of the UIA 2030 Award earlier this year. Launched in 2021 as a biennial program, the award was created to foster engagement and to recognize and promote the work of architects that contributes to the achievement of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in line with the New Urban Agenda.
Just a few weeks ago, in November, the organization unveiled the finalist projects, which were recognized for “the quality of their design and for making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.”
The bus station in Santiago de Compostela and the parking and intermodal station in Nantes were highlighted as finalists in this category: Public Transportation.
The jury noted that its selection recognized: “Projects that, by virtue of their location, design, density, etc., contribute significantly to the provision of safe, accessible and sustainable public transport, in line with the principles underlying SDG 11 target 11.2.1.”
