IMAGINATIVE AND INNOVATIVE RESPONSES FOR DEVELOPING COUNTRIES
In late October, alongside IDOM, ITS ESPAÑA organized a workshop on ITS Solutions based on Mobile Phones at the headquarters of the Spanish Directorate General of Traffic. The session was based around the presentation of the project that IDOM is developing for the World Bank. IDOM is working on the development of a guidebook on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions based on a mobile telephone platforms. The workshop served as a discussion forum for the main experts of the sector, from both public administrations and private companies.
The project, a Guidebook of mobile-based ITS for developing countries, aims to facilitate the introduction of mobile ITS resources in developing countries, boosting their economies by offering imaginative and innovative responses to resolve transportation questions: accidents, road congestion, or high levels of pollution.
This event was conceived as a channel to disseminate the project that, at the request of the World Bank, IDOM is carrying out. Similar meetings took place in June 2017 in Bilbao, and recently, in early October, at the bank’s headquarters in Washington, during a Brown Bag Lunch to inform the staff of the organization.
