We are proud to share the impactful work we have accomplished in 2024 through the KUKUA Safe Walks Road Safety Project in partnership with IDOM. This initiative aims to enhance road safety in Zanzibar, reducing traffic accidents and saving lives.
We are proud to showcase our significant social impact in 2024 through our support of Kukua’s Safe Walks Road Safety Project. With the invaluable backing of IDOM, this initiative aims to enhance road safety in Zanzibar by reducing traffic accidents and safeguarding the most vulnerable members of the community.
Why does road safety matter? Traffic accidents are the leading cause of death among children and young people worldwide (WHO, 2023). This crisis especially affects low-income countries, where the number of deaths from road accidents threatens to surpass those from malaria and HIV. Safe Walks aims to stop this alarming trend through education, capacity buidling, community involvement, and policy advocacy.
In 2024, KUKUA provided road safety education to 519 children, helping to save lives threatened by the growing epidemic of traffic accidents.
On November 17, 2024, in honor of World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, we are launching a special video that highlights our collaboration with KUKUA, to whom we have provided essential financial support for the project in 2024. This video is a tribute to all those affected by traffic accidents and a call to action to achieve safer roads.
Safe Walks was attended by Jorge Moragas, the Spanish ambassador to Tanzania. Thank you, Jorge, for your support.
We invite you to watch and share our video and to advocate for our mission to improve road safety on Zanzibar’s roads.
