Los Humeros III, 25 MW Geothermal plant
Mexico
IDOM has carried out the detailed engineering of the new plant, which is located in the state of Puebla and operates jointly with two other existing plants in the area (Los Humeros II Phases A and B).
The Los Humeros III – Phase A plant, commissioned by CFE de México from ALSTOM, operates using steam obtained by drilling wells at a depth of up to 3,500 meters, on a geothermal surface of 12.5 km².
It has been designed with an installed capacity of 25 MW and with an annual production exceeding, on average, 200 GWh , the equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 40,000 people.
The geothermal power plant went into operation at the end of 2017, being officially inaugurated by the government in November of the same year.
