Design and implementation of a Food-as-a-Service platform

Blendhub is a pioneer in the development of new business models based on servitisation for the food industry. Blendhub has developed an unprecedented vision to revolutionise access to nutrition through its Portable Powder Blending (PPB) hubs, a flexible manufacturing model that allows production to reach remote and underserved areas. An ambitious mission that fits into a 40-foot container.

In order to make this production model a reality, Blendhub has set out to develop a collaborative platform with a global impact, for which it has enlisted the services of IDOM as its technological partner to design a common roadmap and lay the foundations for the development of this platform, the first phase of which consisted of the design and implementation of a PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) system, using SIEMENS’ Digital Twin technology for the process industry: Opcenter RD&L. This technology makes it possible to orchestrate new product development and quality management processes thanks to a common data repository shared by all the actors in the supply chain in a collaborative and secure environment.

With the Food-as-a-Service platform, Blendhub, together with IDOM and SIEMENS, is driving innovation in the food industry on a global scale, redefining supply chains through real-time collaboration and flexibility, and contributing to a much more sustainable and equitable future.
