Digital twin of a Children’s Hospital in Burgas

Bulgaria

As part of the European Investment Bank’s investment, IDOM has carried out the design of a children’s hospital in Burgas, Bulgaria, using the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology. This innovative approach has allowed to optimize both the construction phase and the equipment of the hospital, ensuring an efficient and accurate management of all the resources involved.

The IDOM team integrated the initial BIM model into an Autodesk Digital Twin platform to maximize its usefulness throughout the project lifecycle. This integration has enabled

  1. Integrated space management: The Digital Twin platform enables the integration of multiple sources of information for the management of hospital spaces (rooms). This ensures accurate and efficient coordination of all areas of the hospital.
  2. Medical Equipment Management: Enables detailed management of medical equipment in different hospital wards, including management of specific zones. This makes it easier to plan and monitor the equipment needed in each area.
  3. Advanced Graphical Visualization: BIM model information is displayed on a graphical monitor, providing 3D visualization in “cockpit” mode. This gives project managers a clear and detailed view of the hospital’s status at all times.
  4. Integration of external sources: The digital twin integrates information not only from the BIM model, but also from external sources such as SharePoint and video sources. This enriches the model with additional data that is critical to the management and operation of the hospital.

Burgas Children’s Hospital has become a benchmark in the use of BIM and digital twins in the healthcare sector, ensuring a modern and efficient infrastructure at the service of the community, thanks to this methodology and the advanced technology used.
