El Hierro online

The El Hierro en RED initiative aims to use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to develop a digital infrastructure and information services that will allow the territory and its resources to be managed in a more efficient and sustainable way, as well as improving the provision of services to citizens.
This initiative is framed within the National Plan of Smart Cities of the Digital Agenda for Spain and is co-financed by the Operational Program for Smart Growth (POCInt) of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
The initiative contemplates the following lines of action:
- Implementation of a Smart City platform capable of providing transversal services to the various systems required for the management of the island.
- Development of applications for the exploitation and dissemination of the information collected, such as BI, Dashboards, Big Data and Open Data Portal.
- Develop and integrate into the platform the following vertical services of the island: Transportation Service Management; Weather Station Network; Water Tank Management and Fire Prevention System; Volcano Monitoring Network; and Integrated Tunnel Management.
- Development of services and applications for tourist use, such as El Hierro en Red App; El Hierro en Red Web Portal.
