IDOM has collaborated in several important concentrated solar power (CSP) projects in China, including the engineering services for the Gansu Akesai plant, the world’s first solar-scale solar power plant using molten salts as a heat-carrier liquid circulating through parabolic trough collectors.
The developer of the Gansu Akesai project (Tianjin Binhai Concentrating Solar Power Investment Co., Ltd.) has contracted IDOM to develop the basic engineering and detailed engineering for the thermal energy storage system of the aforementioned CSP plant, with parabolic trough technology and 50 MW of power. For the Dunhuang plant project (Promoter: Lanzhou Dacheng Technology Company – LZDCTC), located in the province of the same name, the turnkey contractor North West Electric Power Design Institute (NWEPDI) has contracted IDOM to develop the basic engineering for the design of the molten salt system, the thermal storage system, and the steam generation system. This is the project of a solar thermal contracting plant with linear Fresnel technology and a power of 10 MW in a first phase.
