SMEs are a fundamental part of Colombia’s business network. In order to reactivate economic and productive activity in the industrial centers of Bogota, Medellin and Cali, IDOM has designed the FINPYME program to improve the competitiveness of 120 SMEs and reactivate key sectors such as agriculture, textiles, tourism and food.
The services provided under this project were as follows:
- Training local agents such as business schools and chambers of commerce in the use and application of the FINPYME methodology for improving the competitiveness of companies.
- Development of competitiveness diagnostics for a group of 120 SMEs in the regions of Bogotá, Cali, and Medellín.
- Design of an individual and group technical assistance program to improve the competitive position of SMEs in Colombia.
- Preparation of competitiveness improvement plans for these SMEs and preparation of a proposal to improve their access to medium- and long-term financing.
- Application of the experiences and knowledge acquired to improve the policy guidelines in the development plans of the Colombian departments.
The services provided by IDOM in the FINPYME Program have helped more than 400 Colombian companies in terms of innovation, financial management and continuous improvement measures that have improved the competitiveness of the Colombian business fabric, reactivating key sectors of the economy and improving their productivity.
