Logistics center for pharmaceutical projects, a forerunner at European level

This Pharmaceutical Distributor from Gipuzkoa is developing a project to unify its two business lines – pharmacy and DPH products (drugs, perfume and hygiene) – in a new logistics center in the Eskuzaitzeta industrial park, San Sebastián. In the first phase, its two pharmaceutical product production centers will be moved to the new facilities, while the centre for DPH production center will be moved in the second phase. This is an ambitious project, to be built on a plot of 16,900 m², including measures and solutions to modernize the management the service offered to pharmacies of the regions and patients.

Next year, one of the most modern drug distribution warehouses in Europe will be inaugurated

The building designed groups the pharmaceutical warehouse and the administrative area in a single volume, 10,200 m² and 12 m high. It consists of three floors, with 5,200 m² for entrances, technical rooms, warehouse and dispatch and 3,100 m² for the reception/administrative area, offices, meeting rooms and training rooms for pharmacists. In the basement there will be a parking area. The warehouse will have modern robots, an OSR shuttle automatic storage system and two SDA or high-turnover drug container dispensing robots. This will allow the automation of 82% of the lines and the improvement of workers’ work and drug control and dispatch.

IDOM is providing consulting, engineering and architecture services to Distribuidora Farmacéutica de Gipuzkoa from the initial phases of project conception. The scope of the contracted services includes the preliminary studies of implementation and the financial estimation of the investment, the architectural design, the basic and detailed engineering, the technical assistance for the contracting of the works, the facultative management and execution of the works, as well as Project Management during the construction phase.
