Multimodal Logistics Platform in La Dorada and a Truck Center in Chinchiná
The Government of Caldas has identified the need to evaluate the feasibility of developing a multimodal logistics platform in La Dorada, Caldas, in order to explore the existing potential as a national logistics centre linking the productive centres of the centre of the country with the ports of the Colombian Caribbean.
The objective of the project is to carry out a feasibility study and technical, financial and legal design for a multimodal logistics platform in La Dorada -Caldas- and a truck centre in Chinchiná -Caldas-.
The scope of the project includes the following analyses:
- Evaluation of the feasibility of locating a Multimodal Logistics Platform in La Dorada, considering its contribution to the structure of the national logistics system.
- Preparation of pre-dimensioning studies for the PLM based on the logistics vocation, the cargo to be handled and the intermodality considered.
Evaluation of the micro-location of a multimodal logistics port in three alternatives, based on determining criteria. - Financial evaluation of the future infrastructure, including the estimation of investment costs, expected revenues and expenditures, and evaluation of expected profitability.
- At the same time, a pre-feasibility study is being carried out for the location of a Truck Center in the town of Chinchiná, Caldas. It includes a study of alternatives, evaluation of the micro-location and estimation of investments and expected profitability.
In conclusion, IDOM and the Government of Caldas are carrying out a comprehensive study to assess the feasibility of developing a multimodal logistics platform in La Dorada and a truck centre in Chinchiná. This project aims to strengthen the department’s logistics infrastructure and improve links between the country’s production centres and the ports of the Caribbean.
