Optimize asset management maintenance with Digital Twin

Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) is a sustainable mobility operator that focuses its activities on rail mobility management. As an innovative organization seeking an automated and error-free information environment, FGC set itself the challenge of being the first organization to integrate the BIM methodology into the SAP maintenance module.

Together with SAP, IDOM has integrated knowledge and multidisciplinary teams to meet the challenge of developing a proof of concept on SAP technology.

Based on the BIM model of a real train station:

• The BIM Execution Plan model was defined, aligned with the asset models in SAP.
• A new architecture based on SAP AIN ‘Asset Intelligence Network’ and SAP EPD ‘Enterprise Product Development’ was proposed, capable of managing the digital twin in the cloud and integrating it with the SAP maintenance area.
• Based on SAP Visual Enterprise Generator, developed a digital twin integration process.
• Defined and implemented the update of information from SAP to Revit, developing a specific add-on for information synchronization.
