Rufiji Hydroelectric Power Station – 2,115 MW

The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has awarded the joint venture formed by Elsewedy Electric and The Arab Contractors the construction under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) scheme, the Rufiji Hydroelectric Power Plant project in Tanzania.
IDOM has acted as Contractor’s Engineer for Elsewedy Power System Projects, providing technical consulting services during the contract negotiation phase including, among others:

- Matrix of the division of responsibilities of the project
- Detailed description of the scope of work
- Contract Interface
- Technical specifications for construction work, on-site
- General Planning Review

- Storage volume: 30,000 million m³
- Average flow: 890 m³/s
- Installed capacity: 2,115 MW
- Typology of the dam: Gravity, RCC
- Dam length: 1,025 m
- Turbines: 9 x 235 MW, Francis type
