Urban development plan and key pre-project proposals for the city of Linhares, Brazil

IDOM assisted the Prefeitura de Linhares in defining an urban model for the future development of the city (currently 150,000 inhabitants). The analysis included the modelling of future development scenarios (20 years), the study of the demand for land and housing, the impact on the mobility system, as well as the effects of natural disasters and climate change.
The final proposal included the development of urban planning guidelines for an expansion zone to the east of the city, and the design of a proposal for a new center aimed at promoting a change in the mobility paradigm, incorporating into the urban design the foundations for a development oriented towards public and non-motorized transport.
The proposed urban model also responds to the existence of a fragile natural heritage (lagoons), which has the potential to become an urban attraction that is the hallmark of the city of Linhares.
